This is an exciting opportunity to lead a dedicated team responsible for delivering an essential front-line service, ensuring residents receive an efficient, accurate and supportive experience while helping the Council maximise income collection and meet its statutory responsibilities.

As a key leader within the service, you will play an important role in driving performance, supporting colleagues and shaping the future delivery of Council Tax operations. If you are passionate about customer service, enjoy developing people and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

About the role: As Council Tax Team Leader, you will lead and manage the operational delivery of the Council Tax service, ensuring the accurate and timely administration of accounts, billing, discounts, exemptions, reliefs, write-offs and associated processes. You will work closely with colleagues across Revenues and Benefits and other Council services to deliver an integrated approach to local taxation. Alongside operational responsibilities, you will provide leadership, coaching and support to your team, creating a positive culture that encourages accountability, wellbeing, development and high performance.

About you: You will have significant experience working within a Council Tax service and a proven track record of leading and developing teams in a complex customer-focused environment. You will possess a strong understanding of Council Tax legislation and administration, together with the ability to interpret and apply regulations accurately and confidently.

A natural leader, you will be skilled at motivating others, managing performance and building positive working relationships with colleagues, customers and stakeholders. We are looking for someone who combines strong technical expertise with excellent communication skills, a commitment to service excellence and a passion for continuous improvement. You will be innovative, resilient and adaptable, with the drive to deliver outstanding outcomes for both customers and the organisation.
