Huntingdonshire District Council (HDC) is passionate about providing high-quality services to our communities, residents, and businesses. This means we must employ and retain the most talented and dedicated people. Situated within the heart of the Cambridge‐Peterborough Growth Area, Huntingdonshire is a beautiful district that boasts thriving market towns and many attractive villages, each with its own identity. We are an innovative and forward‐thinking local authority whose residents are at the heart of our decision‐making. We want to employ staff who embody our icare values (Inspiring, Collaborative, Accountable, Respectful, Enterprising), all of which support our ultimate purpose of putting our customers first.

About The Role

An opportunity has arisen to join our Finance team to support the strategic vision of the council. The Finance Business Partner promotes, supports, and develops the provision of financial data and analysis to the council, so that it is able to complete and prepare accurate records of its income, expenditure, assets, and liabilities in accordance with accounting standards and its Code of Finance. They play a vital role in the development of financial strategies across the council's services and are relied upon for their guidance and challenge. The Finance Business Partner works with colleagues to provide high‐quality financial support to directors, heads of services, and budget managers, helping them develop the knowledge and insight to effectively manage their budgets. This is a key role and requires good communication and technical skills to ensure that the finance services provided are professional and customer focused.

About You

We are looking for an excellent communicator with strong organisational skills who holds an accountancy qualification and is experienced in using Office 365 and financial management systems. The ideal candidate is self‐motivated and proactive, with previous finance business partnering experience, and can manage their own workload with minimal supervision to meet tight deadlines. Knowledge of local government finance would be useful but not essential. You will be known for your reliability, attention to detail, and organisation, alongside a collaborative and proactive approach.

Employment is conditional upon having the right to work in the UK. HDC does not hold a Sponsorship Licence and cannot provide a Certificate of Sponsorship or take over sponsorship for any role.

How to Apply

Complete the application form. The closing date is 9am on 28 June 2026. Interviews will be held the week commencing 6 July. This is a rolling campaign; we will review applications on an ongoing basis and may close the advert early if we receive suitable applications. Our hybrid work model enables employees to work remotely while allowing for in‐office collaboration opportunities across the district, with an expectation of being in the office at least two days a week. Some positions may require a more consistent presence in the office due to the nature of the work. For any additional questions regarding submitting an application, please contact the Recruitment Team at recruitment@huntingdonshire.gov.uk.

Benefits

We offer a range of benefits, including flexitime, to encourage a work‐life balance.

Equality and Inclusion
