The Firm’s Private Client & Tax Group is an integral part of its wider Private Capital offering. The team delivers a comprehensive range of services to a diverse and engaging client base. Clients include high-net-worth individuals, family offices, trustees, financial institutions, established businesses, and start-ups. Many clients have connections to the technology, finance, entertainment, media, and sports sectors. The team also has significant experience working with international clients, including those linked to the Middle East and the United States. The group is recognised for providing sophisticated, cross-border advice and for working closely with colleagues across the firm to deliver integrated, strategic solutions.

The firm is seeking to recruit a talented and driven Senior Associate to join its Private Client & Tax Group. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background, high-quality training, and preferably experience gained within a respected private client practice. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, high-value, and intellectually challenging matters for a prestigious and diverse client base, within a supportive and collaborative team environment. The successful candidate will be involved in a broad and varied workload, including both domestic and cross-border matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drafting wills and advising on succession planning.
  • Establishing and maintaining wealth planning structures, including onshore and offshore trusts, foundations, family investment companies, and partnerships.
  • Advising on inheritance tax, including reliefs, exemptions, double tax treaties, and strategic planning.
  • Providing cross-border succession planning advice, including conflict of law issues and coordination with foreign counsel.
  • Advising on tax residency and domicile matters, as well as income tax and capital gains tax issues, including the remittance basis, split-year treatment, overseas workday relief, and related personal tax considerations.
  • Advising trustees and beneficiaries on rights and responsibilities, including trust restructuring projects.
  • Advising on matters involving mental capacity, including preparation and registration of lasting powers of attorney.
  • Advising on philanthropic structures, charitable giving, and impact investing, including charitable law issues.
  • Assisting trustees and individuals with compliance matters, including reporting obligations, transparency requirements, and anti-corruption regulations.
  • Advising on the establishment, management, and unwinding of UK residential property holding structures, including income tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, corporate tax, ATED, and SDLT considerations.
  • Providing general private client and tax advice as required.
