The Employment team is recognised for advising on complex and high-profile employment matters, acting for clients across a diverse range of industries.

The team provides strategic advice on contentious and non-contentious employment issues, including tribunal litigation, workplace investigations, restructuring projects, executive matters, and day-to-day employment advisory work.

Lawyers work closely with colleagues across multiple practice areas and jurisdictions, delivering seamless support on domestic and international matters.

Role Overview

Our client is seeking an Employment Associate to join its London office.

This role offers the opportunity to work closely with senior lawyers and partners on a broad range of employment litigation and advisory matters for high-profile clients.

The successful candidate will gain exposure to complex, intellectually challenging work while developing their expertise within a collaborative and supportive team environment.

The position provides significant responsibility from an early stage, enabling the successful candidate to build strong client relationships, contribute to business development initiatives, and further develop both technical and commercial skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advising clients on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious employment law matters.
  • Managing and assisting with employment tribunal litigation from initial instruction through to final hearing.
  • Advising on disciplinary and grievance procedures, workplace investigations, redundancies, restructures, and dismissals.
  • Supporting clients on executive employment matters, including senior departures and restrictive covenant issues.
  • Drafting and reviewing employment contracts, policies, settlement agreements, and related employment documentation.
  • Working alongside colleagues on the employment aspects of corporate transactions and other cross-practice projects.
  • Conducting legal research and preparing clear, commercially focused advice for clients.
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships through responsive and practical legal support.
  • Participating in business development, networking, and thought leadership initiatives.
  • Contributing to knowledge sharing and supporting junior members of the team where appropriate.

The successful candidate will possess

  • Experience advising on both contentious and non-contentious UK employment law matters.
  • Previous experience handling employment tribunal litigation.
  • Strong technical legal knowledge combined with commercial awareness.
  • Excellent drafting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple matters effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to build lasting client relationships.
