The Role:
- Lead the design and development of bespoke special purpose machinery from concept through to manufacture and installation.
- Manage multiple engineering projects, taking ownership of technical decisions and project delivery.
- Produce detailed 2D and 3D CAD designs, engineering calculations and validation activities.
- Conduct stress calculations, design reviews and testing to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
- Work directly with customers to understand technical challenges and develop innovative engineering solutions.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, technical sales and leadership teams to drive continuous improvement and product development.
- Support the future growth of the engineering department, with opportunities to develop leadership and mentoring responsibilities.
Experience:
- Experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with a background in heavy engineering, special purpose machinery or other safety-critical applications.
- Proven experience managing projects from concept through to production.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, stress calculations and engineering analysis.
- Proficient in 2D and 3D CAD design.
- Commercially aware with strong communication and customer-facing skills.
- Ambitious and motivated to progress into a senior technical leadership or Chief Engineer role.
