Food Safety Manager in Llanelli

Due to continual expansion and growth, this company, a leading food producer, is looking to add an experienced Food Safety Manager to the team in South Wales. You will be reporting to the general manager and will be tasked with developing the company's technical function, continually improving food safety, raw materials, and finished product quality. As a member of the senior management team, you will be responsible for facilitating audits and assisting in driving a 'quality' culture.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement and continuously improve food safety management systems, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current legislation and industry standards.
• Manage product traceability, HACCP and food safety programmes, leading the HACCP team to maintain effective controls and minimise biological, chemical and physical food safety risks.
• Support and monitor manufacturing, transport and retail operations to ensure adherence to food safety, quality and GMP requirements while driving continuous improvement.
• Plan, conduct and coordinate internal GMP audits, track audit performance and maintain an ongoing state of audit readiness across the business.
• Lead external audits from regulatory and certification bodies, ensuring all non-conformances are effectively addressed and closed within agreed timescales.
• Act as the company's food safety and compliance expert, overseeing product labelling accuracy, monitoring legislative changes, representing the business with stakeholders, and managing the internal hygiene team.

Requirements:

• Strong background within the food manufacturing or food production industry, with a solid understanding of sector requirements and best practices.
• Proven knowledge and practical experience of HACCP principles, systems and food safety management processes.
• Relevant food safety qualification, supported by a thorough understanding of current food safety legislation and compliance standards.
• Experience conducting, supporting or managing internal and external audits within a regulated food production environment.
• Ability to identify non-conformances, implement corrective actions and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Previous leadership or management experience would be advantageous, although it is not essential for the role.
