Are you an experienced Hygiene professional ready to take ownership of food safety standards in a fast-paced manufacturing environment? We're looking for a Hygiene Manager to join a leading FMCG business in Gloucester, where you'll play a critical role in driving hygiene excellence, ensuring compliance, and leading continuous improvement across the site.

The Role

Reporting to the Quality Manager, you'll take full responsibility for all hygiene-related activities on site, ensuring food safety standards are met and continuously improved. You'll lead a team of Hygiene Technicians and work closely with multiple departments to embed a strong hygiene culture. This is a highly influential role with real visibility across the factory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and improve hygiene protocols in line with food safety regulations
  • Ensure all hygiene critical control points are managed using HACCP principles
  • Deliver training and drive consistent hygiene standards across the site
  • Lead internal and external audits, maintaining compliance with FSSC/BRC standards
  • Own cleaning & disinfection programmes, environmental monitoring, allergen, and pest control
  • Monitor performance, report on standards, and drive corrective actions
  • Support HACCP systems, quality processes, and new product or process introductions
  • Manage contractors, suppliers, and hygiene-related cost improvement initiatives
  • Lead hygiene improvement projects and support site emergency planning
  • Manage, mentor, and develop Hygiene Technicians

About You

  • Strong technical and problem-solving mindset
  • Proven experience in a hygiene or food safety role within manufacturing
  • Hands-on, proactive leader with the ability to drive change
  • Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail
  • Confident communicator, able to influence stakeholders across all levels
  • Background in FMCG manufacturing
  • Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Engineering, or similar
