Role & responsibilities of a maintenance engineer:

  • Carrying out PPM, reactive & predictive maintenance/breakdown analysis
  • Electrical & mechanical fault finding, repairs & PPM's
  • Working on various high-speed food production lines, processing & packaging machinery
  • Site services & facilities maintenance
  • Support project work and continuous improvement activities
  • PLC & control panels - electrical fault finding & repairs

Knowledge, skills & experience needed to be a maintenance engineer:

  • Must be a multi-skilled engineer - electrically biased
  • NVQ / City & Guilds Level 3 or higher in electrical engineering
  • Be a problem solver, approachable, with good prioritisation skills
  • Able to react to breakdowns effectively, safely and efficiently
  • Both electrical & mechanical fault-finding capabilities
  • Need to be comfortable working in poultry processing environments
