CNC Programmer/Setter - Monday-Friday 40 hours (8am - 4pm) Early Friday Finish. Thatcham. Up to GBP55,000.

Our client is responsible for providing advanced manufacturing services across the UK and Europe. It has expanded its capabilities over time, investing in new facilities, technologies, and expertise, and now holds a strong position in both polymer and metal manufacturing sectors.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Program, set, and operate 3-, 4-, and 5‑axis CNC milling machines and CNC turning centres to produce high precision aerospace/automotive components.
  • Manage tooling, including tool life, sister tooling, and probing, ensuring accurate datums and work plane alignment.
  • Run one off development parts and batch work, maintaining the highest quality standards and attention to detail.
  • Support new equipment introduction, manufacturing requirements, and continuous improvement projects within the production environment.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Strong background in 4‑ and 5‑axis CNC programming/setting, ideally with experience in aerospace/automotive metal machining and hard metal finishing.
  • Ability to read complex engineering drawings, apply GD&T, and use tool setting/probing systems effectively.
  • Familiarity with Edgecam, Vericut, Heidenhain, and Fanuc (beneficial but not essential).
  • Demonstrates resilience, adaptability, teamwork, and the ability to work independently in a fast paced environment.
  • Apprentice trained or equivalent skilled CNC operator/toolmaker with a proactive mindset, high attention to detail, and commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
