Role & responsibilities of a maintenance engineer:
- Carry out reactive maintenance & repairs of all production machinery, industrial processing equipment, site services & utilities
- Dealing with hydraulics, pneumatics, compressors, bearings, shafts, gearboxes, rollers, belts, drives
- Follow PPM schedules, continuous improvement projects
- Electrical - PLC fault finding, repair & wiring control panels, switches, sensors, contactors
- Mechanical - fabrication, fitting, welding, manual machining to make parts/repairs
Knowledge, skills & experience need to be a maintenance engineer:
- Ideally be a multi-skilled maintenance engineer
- Qualified - NVQ or City & Guilds Level 3 or higher in engineering
- Must have worked in some form of manufacturing environment
- Team player and positive character
- Worked on hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, bearings, shafts, drives
- Electrical biased skills - PLC fault finding, wiring / repairs control panels, sensors, switches
- Mechanical biased skills - fabrication, fitting, welding, machining - milling, turning, grinding, lathes
