Our client is a leading food manufacturer that is part of a larger European Group. Due to an up and coming retirement, they are looking for a maintenance engineer to join their close‑knit team.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supporting preventive maintenance plans (PPMs) and reactive maintenance across all site production & packaging machinery, site services & facilities.
  • Electrical & mechanical fault finding, problem solving and repairs.
  • New machinery installations and project work.
  • PLC electrical fault finding.
  • Worked on conveyors, mixers, baggers, production lines, packaging machinery, elevators, metal detectors, stitchers, labellers, scanners.
  • Fixing motors, gearboxes, bearings, pneumatics, chains, sprockets, control panels, sensors, safety circuits, pumps, blowers, hydraulics.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Ideally a mechanical‑biased engineer with electrical fault‑finding capabilities.
  • Must be comfortable working in a small team and flexible with a call‑out rota.
  • Ideally have completed a time‑served apprenticeship.
  • Level 3 qualification or higher in engineering.
  • Electrical & mechanical fault‑finding skills.
  • Previous experience in fast‑paced manufacturing, ideally food/FMCG.
  • PLC electrical fault‑finding knowledge.
  • Mechanical fabrication, fitting, and welding skills would be beneficial.
  • Experience with pneumatics & hydraulics.
  • Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to work unsupervised.
