An award-winning electronics manufacturer in South Wales is currently looking to strengthen its research and development department with the key acquisition of a Mechanical Design Engineer. With investment secured for the next 5 years, this company is in a leading position to capitalise on the market growth. The business has a healthy order book and exciting development plans making it an excellent time to join the company.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems, components, and products. This includes creating innovative design concepts, modeling with CAD software, and overseeing the prototyping and testing.
- Create mechanical design concepts and produce detailed 3D models and technical drawings for components and assemblies using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks).
- Develop and test prototypes to validate design concepts and ensure they meet product specifications and performance requirements.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including bills of materials (BOMs), engineering drawings, and design manuals.
- Ensure all designs and manufacturing processes comply with relevant medical device regulations and quality standards.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in mechanical design, preferably within the electronic, medical device or a highly regulated industry.
- High level of proficiency with SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
