An excellent opportunity for an R&D Engineer to join one of NI's leading medical device manufacturers at a time of significant growth. Reporting to the Design Manager, you will support the design and development of innovative medical products from concept through to launch, ensuring full compliance with ISO 13485 and global regulatory requirements.

The Role:
- Research and understand user needs, market requirements and technical inputs
- Define product specifications, acceptance criteria and verification methods
- Design and develop components, subassemblies and full products using SolidWorks
- Create prototypes, conduct verification testing and lead validation activities
- Apply analytical capability including FEA to predict performance and ensure design integrity
- Lead project activities including design reviews, DFMEA, Risk Assessments and project planning
- Manage BOM creation, cost tracking and Design History File documentation
- Work cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, Product Management and suppliers
- Conduct root cause analysis, resolve product issues and implement Engineering Changes
- Ensure product development complies with ISO 13485 and regulatory requirements (CE, EU MDR, UKCA, FDA)
- Support implementation at manufacturing sites and oversee First Article Inspection completion
- Drive continuous improvement and manage project critical path to achieve delivery goals
The Person:
- Bachelor's degree (2:1) in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design or similar discipline
- Minimum 2 years' experience in mechanical or product design (medical device experience desirable)
- Highly proficient in SolidWorks – including surface modelling and mechanism design
- Experience working within ISO 13485 Quality Management Systems
- Strong analytical skills with experience using FEA tools
- Hands‐on prototyping and testing experience
