We are hiring for our client, a leading infrastructure business supporting energy distribution across Northern Ireland. They are seeking a Gas Network Engineer to support the safe delivery, maintenance and development of their utility network. This role is ideal for someone with a background in utilities or infrastructure, who enjoys hands-on engineering challenges, managing operational projects, and ensuring safety and quality across the network.

The Role:
- Plan and oversee day-to-day operational and maintenance activities across the distribution network
- Contribute to the development and implementation of technical procedures and service standards
- Lead infrastructure upgrade and extension projects from concept to completion, including design and cost estimation
- Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders such as contractors, councils and customers to ensure seamless delivery
- Monitor project performance, manage complaints, and ensure regulatory and quality compliance
- Manage budgets and approve contractor payments within agreed frameworks
- Participate in a 24/7 emergency response rota (shared) to support continuity of service
- Produce technical reports and updates for management as required
The Person:
- At least 5 years experience within the natural gas industry including experience in live gas operations
- Strong experience in field operations, maintenance, and/or construction management
- Proven leadership in project delivery, team supervision, or contractor oversight
- Streetworks Supervisor certification.
- Comfortable engaging with multiple stakeholders and working as part of a high-performing team
- Full UK/EU driving licence
Desirable:
- Prior participation in on-call/emergency response systems
- Engineering qualification or technical certification related to utilities or energy systems
