The Role

As Electrical Design Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the design of electrical control systems including detailed schematics, block diagrams and BOMs
  • Acting as the technical point of contact for clients, supporting requirements gathering and design scoping
  • Mentoring junior engineers and guiding technical development within the team
  • Taking responsibility for the quality and delivery of design outputs, ensuring standards and deadlines are met
  • Supporting project delivery from concept through to commissioning, working closely with production, installation, and technical support teams
  • Contributing to process improvements and helping shape future project delivery standards

The Person

This role is ideal for someone currently operating as a Senior or Lead Electrical Design Engineer who is ready for the challenge and reward of stepping into a leadership role. You will need:

  • HNC or higher in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in electrical design for control systems
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality, complex technical designs
  • Confidence communicating with internal teams, suppliers, and clients
  • Familiarity with a range of PLCs, HMIs and Drives (e.g., Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi)

Desirable

  • Experience with Eplan schematic software
  • Hands-on PLC/HMI software development experience
  • Project or team leadership experience, even in an informal capacity
  • A strong understanding of industry standards and compliance
