The Role
As Electrical Design Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the design of electrical control systems including detailed schematics, block diagrams and BOMs
- Acting as the technical point of contact for clients, supporting requirements gathering and design scoping
- Mentoring junior engineers and guiding technical development within the team
- Taking responsibility for the quality and delivery of design outputs, ensuring standards and deadlines are met
- Supporting project delivery from concept through to commissioning, working closely with production, installation, and technical support teams
- Contributing to process improvements and helping shape future project delivery standards
The Person
This role is ideal for someone currently operating as a Senior or Lead Electrical Design Engineer who is ready for the challenge and reward of stepping into a leadership role. You will need:
- HNC or higher in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in electrical design for control systems
- Proven ability to deliver high-quality, complex technical designs
- Confidence communicating with internal teams, suppliers, and clients
- Familiarity with a range of PLCs, HMIs and Drives (e.g., Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi)
Desirable
- Experience with Eplan schematic software
- Hands-on PLC/HMI software development experience
- Project or team leadership experience, even in an informal capacity
- A strong understanding of industry standards and compliance
