We are hiring for our client, a well-established professional services firm based in Belfast, who are seeking an experienced Finance Assistant to join their finance team. This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented individual with a strong background in banking transactions and cashiering to play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting business operations.

The Role:

Banking Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date bank account records
  • Process, key, and co-authorise electronic payments before cut-off times
  • Collaborate with internal teams and branch banking staff to manage transactional funds
  • Post client cash, direct debits, and supplier payments accurately to ledgers
  • Process and print cheques daily
  • Reconcile multiple bank accounts daily
  • Manage foreign currency payments and ensure funds are moved between bank accounts as necessary
  • Resolve queries with banks, solicitors, clients, and government organisations

Other Duties:

  • Manage and organise the general accounts mailbox, actioning emails promptly
  • Provide support to other members of the finance team as needed
  • Ensure smooth communication between the finance team and other departments

The Person - What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Minimum of 1 years' experience in a busy transactional finance role
  • Proven experience in cashiering or bookkeeping, preferably in a regulated or professional services environment
  • Experience with computerised accounting software
  • Excellent attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy and meeting cut-off times
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
