The company: A leading UK digital automation business within a major global energy technology group focuses on delivering advanced digital solutions for power generation, transmission, and distribution. It combines automation, protection and control, grid software, and power system studies.
The Role: We are seeking a proactive Work Package Manager / Project Manager to support the delivery of hardware and engineering work packages within large energy projects. You will manage procurement, coordinate engineering deliverables, and ensure assigned work packages are delivered on time, within budget, and to specification, working closely with Senior PMs and Directors.
- Key Responsibilities
- Manage assigned work packages, typically £200k–£400k in value, 3–4 months in duration.
- Support Senior PMs in project planning, coordination, and delivery.
- Handle hardware procurement, including GE relays, protection panels, and relays; obtain quotes and follow up with suppliers.
- Assist in the preparation and review of engineering specifications and small programs.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and delivery teams to ensure successful package completion.
- Track progress, monitor risks, and report status to Senior PMs and Directors.
- Support secondary projects or additional work packages as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
- 3–5 years’ experience in project management or related roles in electrical, civil, or construction projects.
- Familiarity with project management principles: scope, risk, schedule, and budget management.
- PM qualification preferred (PMP or equivalent).
- Experience with secondary systems and grid automation is a plus.
- Strong coordination, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively under guidance of Senior PMs and Directors.
