About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager β HVDC Control & Protection (C&P) to lead a highly skilled technical team delivering HVDC solutions worldwide. This role combines deep technical involvement in HVDC control technology with people leadership and project execution responsibility.
You will lead a team of approximately 10β15 Control & Protection engineers, accountable for technical delivery across HVDC projects, development of control concepts, and close technical engagement with customers. The role requires hands-on expertise in HVDC control systems and validation and verification, alongside strong leadership, mentoring, and coaching capabilities.
Technical Leadership & Project Execution- Lead and drive end-to-end technical execution of HVDC Control & Protection scope across customer projects.
- Define and approve technical concepts, architectures, and control strategies for HVDC systems.
- Act as the technical authority for HVDC control technology, ensuring compliance with project requirements, standards, and business best practices.
- Oversee and contribute to validation and verification activities, including controller testing, system integration testing, and site support.
- Support commissioning, troubleshooting, and technical problem-solving during project execution phases.
- Serve as a key technical interface towards customers, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
- Lead technical discussions, reviews, and clarifications with customers related to HVDC control and protection solutions.
- Translate customer requirements into clear technical specifications and executable engineering solutions.
- Lead, coach, and develop a diverse team of 10β15 engineers.
- Balance hands-on technical involvement with effective people management.
- Support capability development through training plans, mentoring, technical coaching, and knowledge sharing.
- Conduct performance management, goal setting, and career development discussions.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Control Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in HVDC Control & Protection engineering.
- Proven expertise in HVDC control systems, including control algorithms, system dynamics, and grid integration.
- Strong experience in validation & verification, including RTDS or equivalent real-time simulation tools.
- Prior experience in a technical leadership or people management role, leading engineering teams.
