Location: Manchester Area, England

Overview: Responsible for providing Auxiliary power designs, solutions and technical input to contracts in all areas within the employee’s business area. Delivering departmental work packages on time and to budget.

Role and responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the production of LVAC, LVDC and UPS single line diagram for onshore and offshore Substation up to 400kV associated with LTS.
  • Responsible for the production of LVAC, LVDC and UPS technical specification for onshore and offshore Substation up to 400kV associated with LTS.
  • Responsible for the production of protection and control designs for LVAC, LVDC and UPS equipment associated with LTS.
  • Responsible for the production LVAC coordination study and cable sizing calculations on Amtech software and produce complete study report.
  • Responsible for the production LVDC coordination study and cable sizing calculations and produce complete study report.
  • Responsible for the review of supplier schematic diagram for LVAC, LVDC and UPS and associated documentation.
  • Responsible for the coordination of LVAC, LVDC & UPS alarms signal, control command to/from SCADA through protection schematic and control logic.
  • Responsible for the coordination of LVAC, LVDC & UPS layout location, dimension into the primary layout drawings.
  • Responsible for the production of Aux transformer sizing, DG sizing, DC battery system sizing documents.
  • Responsible for the production of technical specification for Aux transformer and coordination with primary on physical dimension and layout location.
  • Production of Engineering and Test Specifications for new and existing solutions.
  • Attend internal and external design reviews for technical input.
  • Responsible for the production of Auxiliary power Compliance Matrices, Design Intent Documents, and Functional Design Specifications.
  • Responsible for the input in the production of design risk assessments for all design solutions.
  • Ensure as part of the process all design risks and HAZIDS are identified and controlled and ensuring full compliance with current Health and Safety legislation.
  • Ensures quality and consistency by carrying out functional testing during the Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) phase at supplier work.

Requirements:

  • Typically 7 years design experience within the Electricity Transmission and Distribution industry.
  • Experience with British and UK standards.
  • Experience of Auxiliary transformer, DG, LVAC and LVDC systems.
  • Experience of Battery and UPS systems.
  • Experience of cable sizing Amtech software, MCB coordination, Fuse coordination.
