Senior Legal Counsel – Renewable Energy – London UK

The Role

The primary focus of the role will be on execution matters, including:

  • Providing comprehensive support throughout tender processes, project acquisition, and project execution phase.
  • Collaborating with project management and senior contract management teams to formulate contracting strategy for projects and analyze contract risks and form mitigation strategies.
  • Tendering to contract award stages.
  • Identifying and qualifying subcontractors for identified scopes of work.
  • Preparing or reviewing requests for proposals/tender documents for distribution to vendors.
  • Reviewing and evaluating proposals for tender and leading the commercial review of bids.
  • Performing contract review and preparing contract summary documentation for use by project teams.
  • Demonstrating an extensive business and commercial understanding, as well as having the ability to demonstrate a sound knowledge and understanding of compliance matters.

The Person

  • Bachelor\’s Degree in Law (LLB).
  • 10+ years legal counsel experience in a commercial/construction contracting environment within Wind Energy, Power Generation, Oil and Gas, Rail or EPCI.
  • A strong track record of EPCI contracts associated with offshore construction – Substations, Wind turbines, Cables, Foundations, HVDC.
  • Familiarity with project planning and scheduling techniques.
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills with strong communication abilities.
  • Detail-oriented legal professional with a proven track record in delivering high-quality results.
  • Ability to effectively deliver solutions to complex project issues to senior management and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with FIDIC-based contracts.
