Field Service Engineer – BESS, Solar PV & EV Charging projects – Hull & York, England – £Excellent Hourly Rate – 6 Month Contract + Potential Extensions – April Start Date – Monday to Friday – Outside IR35

We are currently seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to support the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of EV charging infrastructure, Solar PV, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) across the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out installation, commissioning, and maintenance of EV charging systems, solar PV installations, and BESS assets.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on high-power EV charging infrastructure.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, and network faults across multiple energy technologies.
  • Support commissioning activities for new sites, including testing and system verification.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health, safety, and electrical compliance standards.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering, operations, and project teams to optimise system performance.
  • Provide on-site technical support and troubleshooting to ensure maximum uptime of assets.

Requirements

  • Electrical engineering background (NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND or equivalent).
  • Experience commissioning or maintaining EV charging systems, solar PV, or BESS infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of three-phase electrical systems, power electronics, and control systems.
  • Ability to diagnose faults in electrical and networked equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and safety-first approach.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites nationwide. Experience with OEMs like Sungrow, Fluence, Tesla, SMA is a bonus
