SENIOR AUTHORISED PERSON (SAP) – 11KV/33KV – HV NETWORKS – BESS & SOLAR PV – YORKSHIRE
The Opportunity
Our client is a growing renewable energy and HV engineering business supporting the delivery, commissioning, operation and maintenance of utility-scale BESS and Solar PV assets across the UK.
Following an increase in contract awards and a significant forward workload, the business is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Authorised Person to its power division.
The role will primarily cover systems operating at 11k V and 33k V, although projects may include voltages up to 66k V and 132k V.
The successful SAP will take a hands‑on role in the maintenance, repair, installation and commissioning of extensive DNO, IDNO and private high‑voltage networks.
This is an opportunity to join a flexible and expanding business with a strong project pipeline and continued growth across its HV power division.
Key Responsibilities
- Working across DNO, IDNO and private networks, completing maintenance and protection works in accordance with customer specifications.
- Taking operational responsibility for maintenance, repair, installation and commissioning schemes within a designated area.
- Supporting overhead‑line and underground networks from LV through to 33k V.
- Planning and organising scopes of work on behalf of DNO, IDNO and private‑network clients.
- Liaising with clients to agree shutdown procedures, requirements and durations.
- Issuing electrical safety documentation across EHV and HV overhead‑line and underground networks.
- Carrying out switching activities on DNO and private HV overhead‑line and underground networks.
- Ensuring the appropriate labour, tools and equipment are available to complete assigned works safely and effectively.
- Standby duties to provide fault response and emergency support.
Experience Required
- HNC or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering.
- Previous experience working as a Senior Authorised Person across HV overhead lines and underground networks.
- Strong experience operating on DNO and private HV networks.
- Practical experience delivering HV projects and maintenance programmes.
- Protection experience would be advantageous.
- Current or previous senior authorisation up to and including 33k V; additional voltage authorisations would be beneficial.
- A proven track record operating in a hands on SAP capacity within a recognised utility, HV power contractor, DNO or IDNO.
- Current UK DNO authorisations, or UK DNO authorisations held within the past 12 months, at LV, 11k V or 33k V.
Relevant contracting company authorisations will also be considered.
- Thorough knowledge of working under DNO control.
- Experience of HV switching systems, operational procedures, processes and planned outages.
- Full UK driving licence.
The position will be based in the Yorkshire region, with national travel required depending on project and operational requirements.
