Hunter Philips are working in partnership with one of the UK’s leading utility providers to source experienced 132kV Senior Authorised Persons to support long-term substation and new connection projects across the North of England. Full 33kV SAPs will be considered for the opportunity.
Responsibilities:
- Take full responsibility for the safe control and operation of 132kV HV systems.
- Prepare, issue, and manage all HV safety documentation in line with DNO and client procedures.
- Carry out and oversee HV switching operations, liaising closely with the control room.
- Develop and implement switching schedules for planned works and outages.
- Lead and oversee new grid connection activities, ensuring Safety from the System at all times.
- Supervise equipment upgrades, including the replacement and commissioning of 132kV switchgear and transformers.
- Produce and review RAMs for high-risk activities.
- Maintain clear communication with engineering, commissioning, and control teams on site.
Requirements:
- Current or previous 132kV Senior Authorisation under a UK DNO or National Grid (Full 33kV SAPs to be considered).
- Proven experience carrying out HV switching on 132kV networks.
- Strong background in substations and/or new grid connections.
- Based in, or willing to travel across, the North of England.
- Full UK driving license.
- HNC in Electrical Engineering or the equivalent is desired but not essential.
Logistics:
- Monday to Friday (with optional weekend work available).
- Competitive all-inclusive day rate, outside IR35.
- Long-term contracts with consistent future work.
- Immediate starts available.
