My client are seeking an experienced Lead Electrical Protection Engineer to join their substation engineering team on an initial 6-month contract. This is a senior, hands‐on role focused on protection and substation scheme design, acting as the technical interface between customers and our client's global community.
You will lead protection engineering activities from design through to site commissioning, taking ownership of technical delivery on complex substation projects.
Responsibilities- Lead technical delivery across protection engineering projects from design to commissioning
- Act as the technical lead during customer kick-off meetings and project reviews
- Analyse customer specifications and develop compliant protection and scheme designs
- Produce and validate technical documentation and engineering deliverables
- Specify protection IEDs, software, and overall technical execution plans
- Ensure compliance with our client's safety and engineering standards
- Manage engineering man‐day budgets and provide progress reporting
- Resolve technical deviations, manage fault reports, and support site teams remotely or on‐site
- Lead and witness FATs, SATs, and support key commissioning milestones
- BSc in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
- 5+ years' experience in protection and electrical design engineering
- Strong knowledge of protection functions, electrical schemes, and cubicle design
- Proven experience designing and configuring LV, MV, and HV protection relays
- Experience with network studies and substation protection systems
- Strong background in substation automation and protection systems
