Role: Protection Engineer & Lead Protection Engineer (HV Transmission Substations – Scotland)

We are seeking experienced Protection Engineers and Protection Lead Engineers to support major HV Transmission Substation projects across Scotland. This is an opportunity to be involved in the design, specification, and delivery of high-voltage protection and control systems for critical transmission infrastructure.
The company is a specialist engineering organisation operating in the power transmission and energy infrastructure space, focused on advanced control, protection, and automation systems for high-voltage electrical grids. They work across major utility networks globally, delivering technologies, particularly in substations and transmission systems.
Role Overview:
- Design and development of protection & control schemes for HV substations
- Relay protection engineering (transmission level systems)
- Coordination with equipment and system integration teams
- Technical support across project lifecycle (design through to commissioning support)
- Leading or contributing to protection philosophy and settings (for lead roles)
- Interface with utilities, consultants, and project stakeholders
Ideal Background:
- Strong experience in HV transmission protection systems (132kV and above preferred)
- Experience with modern numerical relays and substation automation
- Knowledge of protection schemes (distance, differential, busbar, etc.)
- Familiarity with substation equipment
- For lead roles: proven ability to manage technical delivery and mentor engineers
