Overview
Control Engineer – Offshore Wind – Outside IR35 – 12 Month Contract – Hybrid – ASAP start
I’m looking for experienced Control Engineers to join a major offshore wind farm project. You’ll be based out of the control room, managing day to day operations, preparing switching schedules, and ensuring compliance with HV safety rules and grid requirements.
Requirements
- Previous authorisation/experience as a Control Engineer
- Strong knowledge of HV systems, wind farm assets, and HV safety rules
- Experience with switching policies and procedures on wind farms
- Skilled in using and interpreting SCADA systems
- NEBOSH/IOSH Managing Safely or CITB SMSTS (or equivalent) preferred
- Full UK driving license
Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor wind farm power controller and intervene manually if needed to maintain grid compliance
- Place and remove WTGs from control systems to enable site works
- Respond to substation alarms and circuit breaker trips
- Prepare and implement switching programmes for first energisation and ongoing works, ensuring compliance with legislation
- Perform planned, reactive, and emergency switching across HV assets
- Monitor SCADA, DTS, and ancillary systems, ensuring full comms availability
- Produce and distribute daily availability and alarms reports to stakeholders
- Participate in meetings, coordinating safe work planning with SAPs/APs and contractors
- Manage outage requests, planning and documenting as required
- Carry out analysis, troubleshooting, and investigations into alarms and faults, escalating and coordinating corrective actions where needed
- Support stakeholder communications, liaising with project teams, DNO/NG and contractors
