Hunter Philips are supporting a private equity-backed renewable energy investor and developer with the appointment of a Site Manager for a utility-scale Solar PV project located in Belvoir, Leicester.
Full EPC mobilisation scheduled for September 2026 and grid connection targeted for September 2027. This is a site-based contract position where the successful candidate will act as the client’s on-site representative, ensuring quality, progress, and HSE standards are maintained throughout construction. The Site Manager will be required to join approximately one month prior to EPC mobilisation to familiarise themselves with the project and ensure a smooth transition into the main construction phase.
Key Responsibilities:- Act as the client’s on-site representative (“eyes and ears”) throughout the construction phase
- Oversee EPC contractor performance across quality, progress, and HSE
- Conduct regular site inspections, ensuring works are delivered in line with design specifications
- Review RAMS (without sign-off responsibility) and ensure compliance with agreed methodologies
- Monitor installation accuracy (e.g. pile spacing, module installation, cabling routes) and identify discrepancies
- Track daily site progress and productivity to validate contractor claims and invoices
- Ensure strong on-site presence, maintaining hands-on involvement rather than purely administrative oversight
- Proven experience as a Site Manager on Solar PV construction projects
- Strong understanding of civil and electrical installation activities (piling, modules, cabling, inverters)
- Ability to identify and challenge quality or installation issues on-site
- Hands-on approach with a preference for site-based delivery rather than desk-based coordination
- Location: Belvoir Estate, UK (site-based)
- Contract Length: 12 months initial (with extension potential) – Outside IR35
- Start Date: August / Early September 2026
- Extension Potential: Highly Possible, depending on future project pipeline
