We are seeking an accomplished Managing Director – Transmission & Distribution to lead and grow a high-performing business within the UK power and energy sector. This is a pivotal executive role with full accountability for strategy, operational performance, commercial growth, and safety across complex transmission and distribution projects.
The Role
- Reporting to the Group Executive, you will have end-to-end responsibility for the Transmission & Distribution division, driving sustainable growth while ensuring excellence in delivery, safety, and client relationships.
Key responsibilities
- Setting and executing the strategic direction of the Transmission & Distribution business
- Full P&L ownership, including forecasting, budgeting, and financial performance
- Leading large, multi-disciplinary teams across engineering, operations, and commercial functions
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with key clients, regulators, and stakeholders
- Ensuring best-in-class health, safety, quality, and environmental performance
- Identifying and securing new business opportunities within the UK energy market
- Driving innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement across the organisation
About You
- You will be a credible, visible leader with deep sector expertise and a track record of success at senior executive level.
- Significant leadership experience within Transmission & Distribution, utilities, or major infrastructure projects
- Proven experience operating at Managing Director or Director level with full P&L responsibility
- Strong commercial acumen and experience delivering profitable growth
- In-depth knowledge of the UK energy market, regulatory environment, and key clients
- An inspirational leadership style with the ability to build high-performing teams
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
