A family‑owned precision engineering and toolmaking business with over 50 years of heritage supplying some of the most demanding industries in the UK – including Formula 1, automotive OEMs, defence, and specialist manufacturing. We design, build and support high‑precision tooling, fixtures and components where quality, accuracy and engineering thinking really matter. With continued investment in CNC, grinding, EDM, inspection and heat treatment, we are now expanding our toolmaking and precision engineering team.

This is a hands‑on role for an experienced engineer who wants variety, responsibility and the satisfaction of building complex, high‑value tooling – not just running production parts.

The Role

  • You will be involved in the manufacture, fitting, development and maintenance of precision tooling and components, working across multiple departments including CNC milling, EDM, grinding, and bench fitting.
  • Typical work includes:
  • Building and fitting press tools, jigs, fixtures and precision assemblies
  • Working from engineering drawings, CAD models and customer data
  • Manual machining, precision fitting, spotting and adjustment
  • Supporting CNC, EDM, surface, cylindrical and jig grinding departments
  • Trialling, testing and refining tools to achieve required accuracy and performance
  • Repairing, modifying and improving existing tools
  • Working closely with design, inspection and production teams
  • You will be involved in problem‑solving, development work and prototype builds, not just routine manufacture.
  • What We’re Looking For

We are open to a wide range of experience levels, from strong improvers to highly experienced toolmakers.

    Essential

    • Apprenticeship‑trained or time‑served Toolmaker / Precision Engineer
    • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and tolerances
    • Experience with manual machining and precision bench fitting
    • Ability to work to tight tolerances and high quality standards

    Desirable

    • Experience with press tools, jigs, fixtures or special purpose tooling
    • Exposure to EDM, grinding, CNC machining or inspection
    • Experience working in automotive, motorsport, aerospace or defence
    • Comfortable working on one‑off and small‑batch precision work

Most importantly, we want someone who:

    • Takes pride in their work
    • Thinks like an engineer, not just an operator
    • Enjoys solving technical problems

    What We Offer

    • ÂŁ35,000 - ÂŁ50,000 salary depending on experience and capability
    • Overtime available
    • Pension scheme
    • 25 days holiday (including bank holidays)
    • Long‑term, stable employment in a growing company
    • Opportunity to work on high‑end, technically interesting projects
    • Investment in modern machines, inspection equipment and tooling
    • Friendly, skilled, multi‑disciplinary engineering team
