We are seeking an ambitious and technically competent Paraplanner to support our Financial Advisers in delivering high-quality financial planning advice.

This role is ideal for someone with 1-2 years’ paraplanning experience who wants to develop their technical expertise and play an active role in shaping client recommendations.

The successful candidate will not simply prepare suitability reports and conduct research.

They will be encouraged to challenge assumptions, identify risks and opportunities, and contribute to robust, client-focused advice solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed research across pensions, investments, protection, tax planning and retirement planning.
  • Analyse client circumstances and identify suitable planning opportunities.
  • Compare products, providers and platforms using research tools.
  • Prepare cashflow modelling and scenario analysis where required.
  • Ensure recommendations align with FCA regulations and internal compliance standards.
  • Produce high-quality suitability reports and recommendation letters.
  • Ensure all documentation is accurate, compliant and delivered within agreed timescales.
  • Work closely with advisers throughout the advice process.
  • Attend planning meetings and case discussions where appropriate.
  • Assist in the development of complex client strategies.
  • Challenge planning assumptions where appropriate and review adviser recommendations critically and constructively.
  • Maintain detailed file records and audit trails.
  • Ensure client files meet regulatory and internal standards.
  • Keep up to date with changes in legislation, taxation and FCA requirements.

Skills & Experience

  • 1-2 years’ experience in a paraplanning role.
  • Good understanding of pensions, investments, protection and taxation.
  • Experience using financial planning and research systems.
  • Strong report writing and analytical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload.
  • Confidence to question recommendations and discuss alternative approaches.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning (or working towards).
  • Experience with cashflow modelling software.
  • Knowledge of platform and investment research tools.
  • Progression ambitions towards Chartered status.
