Hunter AHP have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Locum Biomedical Scientist with specialist experience in Histopathology to join a reputable NHS hospital based in Liverpool. Key Responsibilities:

  • Embedding, microtomy, staining (including special stains), and sectioning across a range of tissue types
  • Operate histopathology equipment (e.g., Leica or Thermo microtomes)
  • Ensure quality control and compliance with UKAS/ISO 15189 standards
  • Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to laboratory SOPs
  • Support junior staff and assist with training if required

Essential Requirements:

  • HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist
  • Minimum of 1 year UK experience working in a Histopathology lab
  • Proficiency in microtomy (preferred block count: 30–40/hour)
  • Familiarity with quality assurance processes and UKAS standards
