Hunter AHP have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Locum Biomedical Scientist with specialist experience in Histopathology to join a reputable NHS hospital based in Liverpool. This is an excellent role for someone looking to enhance their skills in a modern, well-equipped laboratory setting while contributing to a high-demand department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Embedding, microtomy, staining (including special stains), and sectioning across a range of tissue types
- Operate histopathology equipment (e.g., Leica or Thermo microtomes)
- Ensure quality control and compliance with UKAS/ISO 15189 standards
- Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to laboratory SOPs
- Support junior staff and assist with training if required
Essential Requirements:
- HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist
- Minimum of 1 year UK experience working in a Histopathology lab
- Proficiency in microtomy (preferred block count: 30–40/hour)
- Familiarity with quality assurance processes and UKAS standards
Desirable:
- Previous NHS experience
- Experience with digital pathology systems
