Practice & Project Information

This established practice works on conservation, heritage and listed building projects. Projects require careful coordination with clients, consultants, engineers, contractors, specialist craftspeople, conservation officers, planning authorities and organisations including Historic England. The role involves sensitive design decisions, technical accuracy and conservation best practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support conservation and heritage projects across all RIBA work stages
  • Prepare planning, listed building consent and conservation area applications
  • Coordinate with clients, consultants, engineers, contractors and specialist craftspeople
  • Liaise with conservation officers, planning authorities and Historic England
  • Produce technical drawings, specifications and tender documentation
  • Attend site inspections and monitor works against conservation best practice

Required Skills and Experience

  • ARB-registered Architect with several years of post-qualification experience in the UK
  • Experience delivering conservation and heritage projects
  • Strong knowledge of UK planning legislation for listed buildings and conservation areas
  • Understanding of traditional construction methods, masonry, timber and lime mortars
  • Experience working with historic detailing on heritage or listed building projects
  • AABC accreditation, RIBA Specialist Conservation Register accreditation, or working towards accreditation
