An Assistant Clerk of Works job is available across Surrey and the Home Counties with a growing construction consultancy delivering quality monitoring services on residential and commercial projects.
This is an ideal role for someone with site or construction experience who wants to build a career in quality inspection and compliance, working closely with experienced Clerks of Works across new build and refurbishment schemes.
What you'll be doing:
- Site inspections & quality
- Assist with site inspections, reporting on workmanship, materials, and compliance
- Support Senior Clerks of Works across multiple projects
- Promote quality standards across residential and commercial schemes
- Client & stakeholder liaison
- Act as a point of contact for clients and residents
- Provide site updates and respond to queries
- Reporting & compliance
- Maintain accurate site records, photos and notes
- Support the Quality Management System
- Promote and monitor health & safety compliance
- Project close-out
- Assist with snagging and end-of-defects inspections
- Liaise with contractors and project teams to resolve issues
What we're looking for:
- Previous experience in construction, housing or a related environment
- Exposure to client or resident liaison
- Basic knowledge of construction methods, trades and materials
- Understanding of building regulations and quality standards (desirable)
- Confident using Microsoft Office and new systems
- Strong communication and attention to detail
- Able to manage time and work independently
- Comfortable with remote working and regional travel
