Role & Responsibilities

• Lead Principal Designer duties across multiple construction projects, ensuring full CDM regulation compliance from concept through delivery.
• Provide clear design risk management advice to project teams, supporting safe and compliant design development across all stages.
• Mentor and support junior team members through structured guidance, improving technical knowledge and professional confidence.
• Collaborate with architects and project managers to integrate health and safety strategies within design and delivery processes.
• Review and manage CDM documentation, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with regulatory requirements.
• Oversee external CDM consultants where required, maintaining quality control and consistent compliance standards.
• Deliver internal and external CDM training sessions to improve awareness and promote best practice across project teams.

Skills & Experience Required

• Minimum five years experience within CDM roles, demonstrating strong understanding of Principal Designer responsibilities.
• Proven experience working on large scale office or residential construction projects within complex delivery environments.
• Strong knowledge of CDM regulations and ability to apply them effectively across multiple project stages.
• Experience mentoring or supporting junior staff within a professional office environment.
• Professional background in architecture, engineering, or architectural technology with relevant health and safety qualification.
• APS membership preferred, demonstrating commitment to professional standards and industry best practice.
• Strong communication skills with ability to advise project stakeholders clearly and confidently.
