Architectural Designer Job in Chichester West Sussex

We are currently working with a small Architectural practice who has an Architectural designer Job available to support them on a part-time basis, with an average of 15 hours per week. The role will be offered initially as a fixed-term contract, with the potential to become permanent in the future.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the practice’s director across early-stage residential projects from concept through to planning. Projects range from barn conversions and high-end bespoke homes to small developments of up to 30+ units. Most work is based across Sussex, Hampshire, Kent, Cambridgeshire, and Oxfordshire, with a mix of contemporary and traditional detailing, and an emphasis on timber frame construction. The role would require you to possibly attend site and meet with the director, so the applicant must be based in the South of England and have strong UK residential projects experience.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit planning applications, including Design & Access Statements
  • Act as the main point of contact for planning-related queries as needed
  • Review and adjust drawings in response to feedback or project changes
  • Maintain regular communication with the Director, providing updates as required
  • Work independently across multiple projects, managing time and priorities effectively

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 4 years’ UK experience on residential projects
  • Confident in preparing planning applications and supporting documents
  • This role would need any applicant to have their own limited company in place
  • Clear communicator with good written and verbal skills
  • Able to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision
