We are seeking an experienced Financial Reporting Manager to lead the financial reporting and tax obligations for a group of five UK entities within a large, complex corporate environment. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance with SOX control requirements, and the delivery of key UK tax obligations. The position combines hands‑on technical ownership with people leadership, managing UK‑based colleagues while working closely with our Global Business Services (GBS) team to ensure effective delivery and robust control across the group. This is a great opportunity to take ownership within a dynamic finance function and contribute to continuous process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the monthly close process for five UK entities, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
- Own UK financial reporting and controllership deliverables, including submission of results to the Group consolidation system (EPM).
- Act as SOX control owner for designated UK financial reporting controls, maintaining robust documentation, supporting internal and external audits, and driving remediation of control deficiencies where required.
- Support UK corporation tax processes, including quarterly reporting and annual filings for UK entities and the Irish branch, in collaboration with Group Tax and external advisors.
- Oversee delivery of financial reporting and controllership activities across both the UK team and GBS, including prioritisation, issue resolution, and capacity planning.
- Review and approve journals and balance sheet reconciliations prepared by Global Business Services (GBS), ensuring compliance with group accounting policies.
- Oversee the UK VAT process across all entities, including review and approval of returns prepared by the team, and acting as a point of escalation for technical VAT queries and complex matters.
- Coordinate reporting for other tax areas such as PSA, CIS, and EIS.
- Line manage a small team of UK based team members, providing support, guidance, and performance oversight.
- Partner with FP&A and G&A functional leads to provide financial insight and support cost management.
- Drive knowledge sharing, cross‑training, and continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance process efficiency, improve control effectiveness, and reduce key person dependency.
Key Skills and Experience
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP and internal control frameworks, with experience operating in a SOX‑controlled environment preferred.
- Proven experience leading month‑end close and taking ownership of balance sheet integrity across multiple legal entities.
- Solid working knowledge of UK Corporation Tax and VAT, and general tax principles.
- Demonstrated experience managing, developing, and performance‑managing junior team members.
- Experience operating within a shared service / offshored delivery model, providing governance and oversight rather than transactional processing.
- Strong familiarity with ERP and reporting systems (e.g. SAP, EPM, Esker, or similar).
- Highly organised and detail‑oriented, with the ability to balance technical rigour, control requirements, and commercial context.
Desirable Attributes
- Experience working within a large corporate, multi‑entity, or shared service environment.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to work effectively across time zones and functions.
- Adaptable and comfortable with change, with experience leading or contributing to process improvement and control enhancement initiatives.
This is a fantastic opportunity to take the lead on a critical function within a fast paced and evolving environment. You will have the chance to make a direct impact on financial processes, team development, and the overall business strategy while working with a talented and supportive team.
