Our client are a leading technology organisation working across financial services and energy trading is looking for experienced Senior Java Engineers to join its engineering teams.

This is a hands-on software engineering opportunity, working on complex, bespoke solutions for financial markets clients.

You’ll be involved across both greenfield and brownfield development, working closely with experienced engineering teams to solve challenging technical and business problems.

The role sits within a Settlements / Post-Trade environment, with additional exposure to digital assets and blockchain technology.

Outside R35 contract which is extendable to 12 months!

Up to £700 Day rate as well!

  • Develop and enhance server-side Java/JVM applications, with Java as the primary back-end technology.
  • Build robust services using Spring and Spring Boot.
  • Work across greenfield and brownfield projects within financial services, trading and post-trade environments.
  • Develop solutions supporting settlement and post-trade workflows, particularly within equities.
  • Work with Kubernetes, event-driven architecture and cloud infrastructure, primarily within on-premise environments with some Azure/cloud exposure.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams and stakeholders to understand complex requirements and deliver effective solutions.
  • Take ownership of technical challenges from initial investigation through to implementation and delivery.
  • Work comfortably with ambiguity, incomplete information and changing requirements in a fast-moving environment.
  • Polyglot development experience is welcome where appropriate, although strong Java expertise is essential.
  • Technical Skills Requirements
  • 5–10+ years' commercial software development experience.
  • Strong server-side Java/JVM development experience.
  • Strong Spring / Spring Boot experience.
  • Experience working on complex greenfield and/or brownfield systems.
  • Strong Linux experience.
  • Experience within financial services, financial markets, trading or energy trading.
  • Hands-on development experience — this is not a pure architecture role.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in ambiguous environments.
