We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to build and support market data platforms within a financial markets technology environment. The role focuses on developing end-to-end solutions across UI, APIs and data layers, supporting critical market data analytics, distribution and consumption workflows.
The ideal candidate will have strong full-stack development experience, exposure to market data systems and the ability to deliver scalable solutions in high-performance, production-critical environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain full-stack applications across UI, backend services and data layers.
- Build and enhance market data platforms supporting analytics, distribution and consumption use cases.
- Develop APIs and services using modern technologies, including gRPC, for efficient data access.
- Work with large-scale data stores, such as MongoDB, HBase or similar technologies, to manage structured and semi-structured market data.
- Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis (RCA) and drive fixes through to resolution.
- Translate ambiguous business requirements into practical, scalable technical solutions.
- Collaborate with trading, analytics and data teams to deliver robust solutions.
- Contribute to platform improvements, performance optimisation and system scalability.
Must-Have Skills
- Strong full-stack development experience across UI, backend APIs and databases.
- Proficiency in Python or polyglot backend development.
- Experience building and consuming REST APIs and/or gRPC services.
- Hands-on experience with NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB, HBase or similar.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills in production environments.
- Proven ability to own technical issues end-to-end, including RCA and resolution.
- Experience working with large datasets and data-intensive applications.
Domain Experience
- Understanding of Front Office trading environments, including Fixed Income, FX and derivatives.
- Strong knowledge of market data concepts, trade lifecycles, data flows and risk/pricing dependencies on market data.
- Experience with enterprise trading and market data platforms.
- Understanding of regulatory and compliance considerations within financial services.
Technical & Data Stack
- Experience with MongoDB, HBase or similar distributed data stores.
- Familiarity with gRPC-based services and high-performance communication.
- Understanding of market data modelling, including metadata-heavy schemas, instrument data and FRTB taxonomies.
- Experience integrating analytics platforms and downstream systems.
- Exposure to polyglot architectures and distributed systems.
Good-to-Have
- Experience with market data platforms or vendor data systems.
- Exposure to data streaming or real-time processing frameworks.
- Familiarity with cloud and distributed infrastructure environments.
- Previous experience in global banking or financial services.
Experience:
Approximately 9-15 years, with flexibility for candidates demonstrating strong technical and relevant domain expertise.
