Role: Infrastructure Engineer (Regional/Global lead)

Client: FinTech

Salary: £200k + Comp

Location: London (Regional/global lead - multiple headcount)

We’re partnering with a leading global investment firm to hire a hands-on Trading Infrastructure Support Tech Lead to oversee a distributed support function across EMEA, APAC, and the Americas. This is a leadership role for someone who enjoys staying close to technology while driving operational excellence, automation, and team performance in a fast-paced trading environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and coordinate a global 24x5 support team, including on-call rotations
  • Ensure high availability and performance of critical trading infrastructure and platforms
  • Define and improve support processes, SLAs, and operational best practices
  • Drive automation, tooling, and self-service capabilities with engineering teams
  • Own major incident management and recovery, minimising business impact
  • Identify inefficiencies and continuously optimise workflows and operations
  • Mentor and develop a high-performing technical support team

Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on Linux/Unix administration experience (RHEL/CentOS/OEL preferred)
  • Proven experience leading technical or infrastructure support teams
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD, automation, and modern infrastructure practices
  • Experience with tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef
  • Good knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, multicast, packet analysis, time sync protocols)
  • Familiarity with storage systems (e.g., NFS; GPFS is a plus)
  • Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and organisational skills
  • Ability to operate effectively in a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • ITIL knowledge is advantageous
