Our client, a highly regarded proprietary trading firm, is looking to appoint an experienced Futures Portfolio Manager to join its growing systematic trading business. This is an outstanding opportunity for a high-performing trader with a proven ability to generate consistent alpha across listed futures markets. The firm is interested in speaking with both High Frequency Trading (HFT) and Medium Frequency Trading (MFT) professionals who have built and managed profitable systematic strategies. Exceptional discretionary traders with the ambition and capability to transition into a fully systematic environment will also be considered.
As a Portfolio Manager, you will take ownership of researching, developing and managing systematic trading strategies across futures markets. Strategies will typically focus on intraday trading, although positions may occasionally be held for up to five trading days where appropriate. You will have access to sophisticated technology, high-quality market data and the freedom to evolve your trading models while operating within a robust risk management framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Research, design and deploy fully systematic futures trading strategies
- Generate proprietary alpha using exchange data and derived market data
- Manage a live portfolio while maintaining disciplined risk controls and adhering to defined trading limits
- Continuously monitor, evaluate and enhance strategy performance using real-time market intelligence and quantitative research
- Develop and optimise trading models using Python or C++, integrating seamlessly with the firm's existing technology stack
- Work closely with quantitative researchers and technology teams to improve execution quality and strategy scalability
We're keen to speak with candidates who can demonstrate:
- Experience trading listed futures within a proprietary trading firm, hedge fund, investment bank or family office
- Strong expertise across futures markets. Candidates with a quantitative FX background may also be of interest
- A demonstrable history of building profitable trading strategies with strong risk-adjusted performance
- Excellent programming skills in Python or C++
- A deep understanding of quantitative research, portfolio construction and risk management
- Knowledge of market microstructure and regulatory requirements where relevant
- The ability to thrive in a fast-moving, technology-led trading environment
