Job title: Database Administrator/DBA - PostgreSQL/MySQL

Salary: up to £90,000 + Bonus

The role
My client are a growing FinTech organisation looking to add a talented DBA to their team.
You will take ownership of the extensive Database estate, coding day to day administration, reliability, design and support across a range of Database technologies.
Responsibilities
- Main point of contact for Database technologies including administration, monitoring, high availability, performance and reliability
- Database upgrades, patching and version migration
- Design and implementation of backup and restore procedures including relevant documentation
- Monitoring health, capacity, and performance, identifying bottlenecks
- Reviewing schema changes alongside developers
- Query optimisation, index design and access patterns
- Collaborating with developers on integrations
- Writing and optimising SQL queries for dashboards/reporting (Grafana etc.)
- Managing permissions and privileges
Required experience
- Hands on experience working as a DBA
- Strong knowledge of MySQL
- Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL or QuestDB
- Backup and Restore strategies
- Query planning, indexing strategies, connection management, role management
- Able to write complex SQL queries for both production and reporting
- Integrating database queries with dashboards such as Grafana or other Observability tooling
- Version controlled/branching database systems (eg Dolt)
- Familiarity with Redis/Elastic stack highly desirable
- Comfortable with Linux environments and the command line
