Our client is seeking a Technical & Compliance Manager to act as the technical authority across their Passive Fire Protection operations, ensuring full compliance with legislation, standards, third-party schemes, and client requirements.
The role provides technical leadership, oversees audits and certification, and supports operational teams across live projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as technical lead for fire stopping, fire doors, penetration sealing, cavity barriers, and structural fire protection
- Provide technical guidance to project managers, supervisors, and site teams
- Review drawings, specifications, and installation methodologies for compliance
- Ensure compliance with Building Regulations, Approved Document B, BS/EN standards, and manufacturer guidance
- Manage QA processes, inspection regimes, and certification packs
- Lead third-party accreditations and audits (e.g. FIRAS, BM TRADA, IFC, ISO)
- Monitor regulatory changes and advise senior management on compliance risk
- Support training, competency frameworks, and technical briefings
- Act as technical point of contact for clients, consultants, and certification bodies
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Strong experience within passive fire protection
- In-depth knowledge of UK fire safety legislation and standards
- Experience managing audits and third-party certification
- Confident interpreting technical drawings and test evidence
- Strong attention to detail and ability to challenge non-compliance
Desirable
- Experience on residential, commercial, or higher-risk buildings
- Knowledge of Building Safety Act and Golden Thread principles
- ISO management system exposure
Qualifications
- Level 3+ qualification in Passive Fire Protection or Fire Safety
- FIRAS / BM TRADA scheme knowledge
- CSCS (Manager or Professional)
- NEBOSH Fire Safety (desirable)
