Key Responsibilities
- Lead site investigations, risk assessments, and remediation design for contaminated land and brownfield redevelopment projects.
- Develop and manage Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), including planning, fieldwork, analysis, and reporting.
- Supervise ground investigations and environmental sampling, ensuring adherence to health, safety, and environmental protocols.
- Interpret geotechnical and environmental data to assess site conditions and environmental risks.
- Design and oversee the implementation of remediation strategies and validation plans.
- Liaise with regulators, clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Mentor junior engineers and scientists, providing guidance on technical and professional development.
- Manage project budgets, timelines, and deliverables to ensure client satisfaction and regulatory compliance.
- Prepare and review technical reports, proposals, and contract documentation.
- Stay updated with emerging environmental regulations, industry standards, and best practices.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Earth Sciences, or a related field.
- Chartered status (CEng, CGeol, or equivalent) preferred.
- Minimum of 8–10 years of experience in geo-environmental engineering, including contaminated land assessment and remediation.
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations (e.g., Part IIA of the Environmental Protection Act, CLR11, BS 10175).
- Proficiency in risk assessment models (e.g., CLEA, P20, SNIFFER).
- Experience with geotechnical design and ground engineering software is advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent report writing, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Valid UK driving license (if applicable).
