Key Responsibilities

  • Lead site investigations, risk assessments, and remediation design for contaminated land and brownfield redevelopment projects.
  • Develop and manage Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), including planning, fieldwork, analysis, and reporting.
  • Supervise ground investigations and environmental sampling, ensuring adherence to health, safety, and environmental protocols.
  • Interpret geotechnical and environmental data to assess site conditions and environmental risks.
  • Design and oversee the implementation of remediation strategies and validation plans.
  • Liaise with regulators, clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Mentor junior engineers and scientists, providing guidance on technical and professional development.
  • Manage project budgets, timelines, and deliverables to ensure client satisfaction and regulatory compliance.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, proposals, and contract documentation.
  • Stay updated with emerging environmental regulations, industry standards, and best practices.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Earth Sciences, or a related field.
  • Chartered status (CEng, CGeol, or equivalent) preferred.
  • Minimum of 8–10 years of experience in geo-environmental engineering, including contaminated land assessment and remediation.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations (e.g., Part IIA of the Environmental Protection Act, CLR11, BS 10175).
  • Proficiency in risk assessment models (e.g., CLEA, P20, SNIFFER).
  • Experience with geotechnical design and ground engineering software is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent report writing, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Valid UK driving license (if applicable).
