Our client is an established specialist in the design and manufacture of high-end bespoke joinery and furniture for luxury residential projects. Working from a well-equipped manufacturing facility in Kent, they produce individually designed kitchens, wardrobes, dressing rooms, fitted furniture and specialist one-off pieces, with a strong focus on craftsmanship and quality. Due to continued workload, they are looking to appoint an experienced Veneerer to join their workshop team.

The Role

You will be responsible for producing high-quality veneered components for bespoke furniture and architectural joinery, working closely with cabinet makers, machinists and finishers. Typical responsibilities will include:

  • Selecting and preparing natural and specialist veneers
  • Cutting, jointing and preparing veneer prior to pressing
  • Book matching, slip matching and matching grain/patterns
  • Applying veneer to panels, doors and bespoke furniture components
  • Preparing substrates and surfaces before veneering
  • Working with a variety of timber species and decorative veneers
  • Ensuring veneer layouts are consistent with drawings and specifications
  • Trimming, inspecting and carrying out minor repairs where required
  • Working alongside cabinet makers and finishers to achieve the required finish
  • Maintaining a consistently high standard of workmanship

The Candidate

We are looking for somebody with previous experience working as a Veneerer within a furniture, cabinetry or bespoke joinery environment. Ideally, you will have:

  • Previous professional veneering experience
  • Experience working with natural and decorative wood veneers
  • Good knowledge of veneer matching and grain direction
  • Experience with veneer cutting, jointing and pressing processes
  • Experience producing high-end furniture or architectural joinery
  • Ability to read workshop drawings and specifications
  • Strong attention to detail
  • A quality-focused approach to your work
  • Experience within luxury residential, bespoke furniture, cabinetry or high-end joinery manufacturing would be particularly relevant.
