Our client is seeking an experienced Draughtsman to join their growing design and technical team, supporting the delivery of high-quality bespoke joinery and fitted furniture across a range of projects. This role plays a key part in transforming design intent into accurate, manufacturable technical drawings, working closely with project teams and workshop colleagues to ensure each item is produced to exacting standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed joinery designs and technical construction drawings for client approval, manufacture and installation.
- Translate design briefs and intent drawings into accurate, high-quality technical solutions suitable for fabrication.
- Collaborate with project management and workshop teams to ensure drawings reflect design intent and practical manufacturing requirements.
- Research and integrate third-party items such as appliances and ironmongery, ensuring seamless technical coordination.
- Produce drawings with the appropriate level of detail at approval, manufacture and installation stages, including bills of materials and purchase schedules.
- Manage drawing tracking, revisions and document control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Liaise with external design teams to coordinate design intent and technical expectations.
- Attend design meetings both on and off site as required.
- Use Autodesk Inventor for 3D modelling (SolidWorks or similar experience also considered if willing to convert skills).
Requirements
- Experience working as a joinery draughtsman or within a similar technical design role.
- Strong background in producing workshop drawings for high-end bespoke joinery and furniture.
- Excellent understanding of joinery construction, fabrication processes and finishing techniques.
- Confident working with a wide variety of materials including timber, boards, veneers, laminates, glass, metals and architectural hardware.
- Strong problem-solving ability with the capability to resolve technical detailing between mixed materials.
- Good knowledge of modern manufacturing techniques, materials and production technologies.
- Proficient in Autodesk Inventor (or SolidWorks/other 3D CAD software with willingness to transition).
- Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills and communication abilities.
- Highly motivated and able to work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
