Role Overview
As Groundworks Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing all commercial aspects of groundworks packages, from tender through to final account. Working closely with site teams, clients, and subcontractors, you’ll ensure projects are delivered on budget while maintaining excellent client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all commercial functions for groundworks projects, including cost planning, tendering, and contract administration
- Prepare valuations, variations, and payment applications
- Ensure accurate cost forecasting and reporting across live projects
- Work with project managers and site teams to track progress and resolve commercial issues
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and subcontractors to maintain strong working relationships
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, contractual requirements, and H&S obligations
- Support senior management with cost analysis, budgeting, and business planning
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Demonstrable experience as a Quantity Surveyor in groundworks or civil engineering
- Strong knowledge of drainage, foundations, earthworks, and commercial/residential packages
- Proven track record of managing costs and contracts on groundworks schemes
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and communication skills
- Proficient in standard forms of contract (NEC, JCT, etc.)
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
- Experience working with Tier 1 contractors or developers
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline
- Strong IT skills, including Excel and relevant QS software
