Roles / Responsibilities
- Lead the structural design and delivery of building projects from concept through to construction.
- Produce and review structural calculations, design packages, technical reports and specifications.
- Design structural elements in steel, reinforced concrete, timber and masonry.
- Manage project programmes, technical outputs and day-to-day client communication.
- Coordinate closely with architects, contractors and wider multidisciplinary design teams.
- Attend design meetings, structural surveys and site inspections.
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring and support to junior engineers.
- Contribute to the development of client relationships and the continued growth of the consultancy.
Qualifications
- Approximately 5-8 years' UK structural engineering consultancy experience.
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Proven experience independently delivering building structures projects.
- Strong technical capability across steel, reinforced concrete, timber and masonry design.
- Good working knowledge of Eurocodes and relevant British Standards.
- Confident client-facing, project management and communication skills.
- Experience mentoring or reviewing the work of junior engineers.
- Chartered status with MIStructE or MICE is highly desirable; candidates progressing well towards Chartership will also be considered.
- Experience with software such as Tekla Structural Designer, Tekla Tedds, MasterSeries, AutoCAD, Revit, ETABS or Robot would be advantageous.
