Estimator β Demolition & Remediation
Department: Estimating
Reporting to: Pre-Contracts Director
Location: Birmingham (Head Office)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Role Overview
An opportunity has arisen for an Estimator to join a well-established demolition and remediation contractor delivering projects ranging from Β£100k to Β£20m+ across the UK.
The Estimator will play a critical role in the pre-construction and tendering process, supporting the business in securing new work through accurate, competitive, and well-considered bids. Working closely with the Bid Manager and wider pre-contracts team, the role will involve producing cost estimates, programmes, and methodologies for both competitive tenders and budget enquiries.
This position sits at the heart of the business and directly contributes to its continued growth and success.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and assess tender information issued by client teams
- Work with the Bid Manager to establish tender deliverables and strategy
- Attend site visits to fully understand scope, constraints, and methodology requirements
- Collaborate with CAD technicians to develop methods of work and outline programmes
- Identify specialist subcontract packages and obtain competitive quotations
- Analyse subcontractor returns, closing gaps and managing risk and opportunity
- Measure works and produce basic Bills of Quantities
- Price works from first principles, including labour, plant, and materials
- Build composite rates and price both tender and budget enquiries
- Price site preliminaries accurately
- Develop basic programmes with operational input
- Attend tender adjudication meetings and adjust bids following management feedback
- Manage and respond to post-tender queries from clients
- Maintain accurate records and ensure smooth handover of secured projects to delivery teams

- Previous experience within the demolition and/or construction sector
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Confident problem-solver with a proactive approach
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage workloads and deadlines
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
- Customer-facing mindset with professional stakeholder engagement
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
