Humphrey M&E Consulting Engineers are looking for an experienced, self-motivated Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to operate either from their office based in Boldon, South Tyneside or to operate remotely (depending upon the home location of the candidate). The position is primarily, although not exclusively, to assist in the support of our major clients that serve the Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Justice. The projects generally have one to several months design periods and are varied in nature, giving the appointed engineer an ever-changing and interesting range of design duties.
Ideally, the candidate will have the following attributes:
- Degree qualified, although we would also welcome applications from engineers who have progressed through the practical side of the industry with recognised academic qualifications.
- Minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
- Be able to establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and most importantly our client’s representatives.
- Be able to meaningfully contribute to meetings with clients, project teams, contractors and other stakeholders.
- Undertake and deliver high quality detailed engineering design for mechanical building services, including calculations, analysis, schematics, drawings, diagrams, models, specifications, and other related documents.
- Good knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, regulations, guides, and all-round good practice.
- Knowledge of the following systems is essential:
- LTHW & MTHW Heating Systems.
- Domestic Hot and Cold Water Systems.
- Natural Gas Systems.
- Ventilation Systems.
- Comfort Cooling and Air Conditioning Systems.
- Fire Suppression and Sprinkler Systems.
- IES.
- Hevacomp.
- AutoCad / Revit.
- NBS Specification Writing.
- Microsoft Word and Excel.
