We are seeking SEN Teaching Assistants to work in specialist schools across Southampton and Winchester, supporting pupils with a range of needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), social and communication challenges, and complex learning profiles.
The Role
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with EHCPs (Education, Health & Care Plans)
- Support students in their academic, social, and emotional development
- Implement strategies to help pupils overcome barriers to learning
- Assist teachers with classroom management and resource preparation
- Build trusting relationships with pupils, promoting confidence and independence
- Monitor and record progress, sharing feedback with teaching staff and SENCOs
Requirements
- Minimum 3 months' experience working with children or young adults in education, care, or specialist settings within the last 2 years
- Empathy, patience, and adaptability
- Strong communication skills for working with pupils, staff, and parents
- A proactive, supportive, and positive approach
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
